Natalya Romaniw is a Welsh soprano of Ukrainian heritage. She studied in London at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and in the USA at the Houston Grand Opera Studio. She represented Wales in the 2009 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition, reaching the Song Prize final. In 2012 she won both the Kathleen Ferrier Award and the Loveday Song Prize.
Scottish Opera appearances include Tchaikovsky (Tatyana); Dvořák (Foreign Princess); Mascagni (Suzel); Puccini (Tosca).
With Opera Holland Park she has sung Tchaikovsky (Lisa); Montemezzi (Fiora L'amore dei tre re); Wolf-Ferrari (Maliella I gioielli della Madonna).
Further operatic roles in the UK include WNO (Tatyana, Tosca); Garsington (Tatyana, Rusalka); Glyndebourne on Tour (Governess Turn of the Screw); Grange Park (Jenůfa); Royal Opera (Tosca).
On the continent she has appeared at Aarhus (Suzel) and Brno (Lisa).
During her period training at the Houston Grand Opera Studio she sang Wagner (Ortlinde); Verdi (Ines Il trovatore); Bizet (Micaëla); J Strauss (Rosalinde); Puccini (Mimì) and Weinberg (Krystina Die Passagierin).
Her concert repertoire includes Beethoven (Choral Symphony); Elgar (The Kingdom); Vaughan Williams (Sea Symphony), all of which she sang at the Edinburgh International Festival.
