Graeme Broadbent Suggest updates

English bass.

Graeme Broadbent studied under Lynden van der Pump at the the Royal College of Music, then with Yevgeny Nesterenko at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in  Moscow.

He has spent much of his career at the Royal Opera House, where his more than 40 roles have included Cavalli (Ariadenus Ormindo); Rossi (Satyr/Pluto Orpheus); Wagner (King Marke, Nightwatchman); Verdi (Leone Attila, King of Egypt, Dr Grenvil); Puccini (Colline, Timur, Angelotti).

At Glyndebourne he has appeared as Sarastro and the Commendatore, as well as Foltz Die Meistersinger and Dr Grenvil. With ENO he has appeared as Don Basilio and as the Doctor in Birtwistle's Punch and Judy.

At Opera Holland Park his roles include Mozart (Commendatore); Donizetti (Sulpice); Delibes (Nilakantha é); Verdi (Sparafucile, Marchese di Calatrava, Ramfis); Tchaikovsky (Gremin) and Puccini (Ashby).

He created several roles in The Adventures of Pinocchio (Dove) which Opera North toured to Edinburgh.

Appearances with Scottish Opera began in 1991 in Fidelio. His roles with the company include Beethoven (Don Fernando); Mozart (Bartolo); Rossini (Don Basilio); Stravinsky (Trulove);  Sullivan (Sergeant of Police) and Tchaikovsky (Gremin).

Work abroad includes Pinocchio in Stuttgart, Silvano La Calisto in Paris, and Seven Deadly Sins and Mahagonny Songspiel in Paris and Vienna. He has sung Sarastro in New Zealand and Claggart in St Petersburg. In Los Angeles he has appeared in Knussen's Where the Wild Things Are.
