Samuel Dale Johnson Suggest updates

Australian baritone.

Samuel Dale Johnson studied at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University, graduating with a Masters of Music.  In 2013 he was awarded first place in the German Opera Award from the Australian Opera Foundation.  At the Brisbane Festival he sang Nick Shadow The Rake's Progress.

Moving to London in 2014 he joined the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. He made his debut as Silvio Un ballo in maschera. Roles at the ROH include Bizet (Moralès); Chabrier (Salzal L'étoile); Enescu (Thésée Oedipe); Puccini (Imperial Commissioner); Rossini (Dormont La scala di seta, Leuthold Guillaume Tell); Strauss (Wigmaker Ariadne auf Naxos); Verdi (Baron Douphol, Silvano).

Scottish Opera appearances include Mozart (Count Almaviva); Rossini (Figaro); Tchaikovsky (Onegin); Leoncavallo (Silvio).  He has appeared at Glyndebourne (Demetrius); Holland Park (Onegin) and Opera Northern Ireland (Guglielmo).

In 2017 he joined the Deutsche Oper, Berlin under contract. His roles there have included Mozart (Don Giovanni); Rossini (Figaro); Bizet (Escamillo); Puccini (Marcello, Angelotti); Humperdinck (Peter); Giordano (Mathieu Andrea Chénier); Zandonai (Ostasio Francesca da Rimini)

Guest appearances elsewhere have included Zürich (Silvio, Belcore); Bordeaux (Belcore); Rouen (Demetrius); Santa Fe (Count Almaviva), INO Dublin (Faninal Der Rosenkavalier); NSO Dublin (Baritone Carmina Burana). He has also worked in Japan at the Matsumoto Festival (Count Almaviva).
