American baritone.
Ian Rucker studied vocal performance at the University of Wisconsin (Eau Claire) where he sang Don Giovanni and Sweeney Todd. He then completed a Masters under Carol Vaness at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. Operatic roles as a student included Mozart (Count Almaviva, Papageno) and Rossini (Figaro). He was a Palm Beach Opera Apprentice Artist and an Aspen Music Festival Renée Fleming Artist.
He joined the Ryan Opera Center Ensemble at the Chicago Lyric Opera for the 2022/23 season. Roles there included Moralès Carmen, Raimbaud Count Ory and (2023/24) Foreman Jenůfa. Roles in 2024/25 include Schaunard La bohème.
His European debut was at the Salzburg Festival (4th Servant Capriccio)
