Nicole Dickie studied in Cardiff at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She was a bursary scholar with the BBC National Chorus of Wales. She trained under Suzanne Murphy and Catherine Roe-Williams, then back in Scotland with Margaret Izatt and Catriona Clark.
