Peter Auty completed his training in Glasgow at the RSAMD, and made his professional debut in 1998 with Opera North. He returned to Leeds as Alfredo, Don José and Faust. From 1999 to 2002 he was a company principal with the Royal Opera. Roles at Covent Garden include Malcolm Macbeth and Edgardo Lucia di Lammermoor.
Appearances with ENO range through Bellini (Pollione); Mascagni (Turiddu); Puccini (Rodolfo, Dick Johnson); Strauss (Italian Tenor Der Rosenkavalier) and Verdi (Duke of Mantua, Gabriele Adorno).
For Opera Holland Park he has sung Cilea (Maurizio Adriana Lecouvreur)l Leoncavallo (Canio); Mascagni (Turiddu); Tchaikovsky (Lensky, Vaudémont Iolanta); Verdi (Don Alvaro, Radamès).
He has also worked at Glyndebourne Festival (Nemorino, Macduff); Glyndebourne Tour (Don José, Rodolfo) and Grange Park (Cavaradossi).
With Scottish Opera he has sung Bizet (Don José); Mascagni (Fritz L'amico Fritz), Tchaikovsky (Lensky), Puccini (Rodolfo, Roberto Le villi, Edgar) and Dove (Bill Flight).
He has also made guest appearances in Lisbon (Canio), Essen (Don José), Frankfurt and Malmö, as well as the Netherlands and New Zealand.
