David McVicar has returned to the work of Handel on a regular basis throughout his directing career. This pattern was clearly established early on, with this lively and intelligent student production - mind you, when students of this quality are available, what's so surprising? Not just Lisa Milne, ten years before her memorable Scottish Opera appearance in the part, but also Iain Paterson and Richard Burkhard in small roles.
