Scottish Opera had still, at this point, not given a mainstage production of Traviata, but this Opera for All production had an extensive tour in repertoire with Don Pasquale and Martha. The director and designers were also responsible for the full-scale staging introduced at the end of the following year. William Elvin didn't sing much with Scottish Opera in later years, but worked frequently at Covent Garden.
This cast is from the programme for the performances in Perth. The three operas given were Don Pasquale, Martha and Traviata.
On this tour, there were performances as follows (further dates to be confirmed): 21 & 24 Oct (Perth), 27 Oct (Melrose), 3 Nov (Oban), 6 Nov (Hamilton), 13 Nov (Forfar), 22 Nov (Invergordon), 25 Nov (Forres).
These three productions stayed together through to the summer of 1970, and the Traviata and Martha stagings were still being played (in rep with Rossini's Cinderella) in the summer of 1971.
