Requiem, op48 2024St Andrews Chorus

Read more about the opera Requiem, op48

With the Younger Hall still unavailable the St Andrews Chorus again came to the excellent Caird Hall under usual conductor Michael Downes.

This was a highly attractive programme of French classics, Poulenc's Gloria is a lovely work for the chorus and solo soprano.  There were also two brief orchestral classics, Faure's Pavane and Ravel's Pavane pour une infante defunte.

The orchestra is a new name, but the leader, Feargus Hetherington, has continued from their previous band, the Heisenberg Ensemble, as have several of the players.

The choir is lucky to be supported regularly by alumni of the University now making their way in the musical profession.  Ben McAteer, the more established one, really must find it difficult to fit these concerts into his crowded international schedule.
