Billed as Ellen Kent's Farewell Tour, this will be the final hurrah after some thirty years of taking companies of Eastern European performers (largely from Moldova and Ukraine) around the UK and Ireland. Ellen Kent has recently been collaborating with other groups, in this case Senbla, and it is to be hoped that they will be able to continue such much needed activities in future years.
This tour includes three of the most popular classics in their repertoire, Madam Butterfly, (34 performances) La traviata (8) and Carmen (35). The tour begins on 27 January in Brighton, ending in Wolverhampton on 13 May.
In Scotland, the Bizet and Puccini will both be seen in Edinburgh and Glasgow, with Butterfly also appearing in Perth.
