For thie forthcoming season of twelve live HD transmissions from the Metropolitan Opera, New York, opera fans in Scotland have seven cinemas to choose between - all equipped with state-of-the-art sound and vision. The Met season has now become a fixture and at present outdoes competition from the more recent offerings from the Royal Opera, Glyndebourne and others. The seats sold clearly account for a significant part of the opera market in Scotland. Subscription packages are available, and offer great value. Sometimes the cinemas offer extras, such as a pre-performance talk. The performances for 2012-13 can now be seen in our listings. Be sure to check details with the venues - click through to their own websites. The cinemas are:- Aberdeen Belmont Picturehouse, Dundee DCA, Edinburgh Cameo Picturehouse, Glasgow Cineworld Renfrew Street, along with Perth Playhouse, the Pavilion Galashiels and Falkirk Cineworld.
