One of the most popular of Handel's operas in recent years, it has a fantastic plot which is belied by the fact that there are only five characters, no chorus and no ballet. Harry Fehr's production for Scottish Opera sounds as though it may take an interesting angle in that it seems the plot has been updated to the period of the Second World War, which may make rther more sense than the original medieval fantasy which Handel originally adapted from his Italian sources.
